Summer 2009

July equals YW Camp . . . purchasing $3000 worth of food and transporting that food to DeQuincy Louisianna is insane ! ! ! Feeding 200 + teenage girls and adults for 5 days is CRAZY. But every year, I do it . . . . or I should say WE do it. It takes all the McKees on Timber Lane to make this happen and this year we were two short . . . Ken and Braeden left for Scout Camp the same week. TaTa Karen and Uncle Pat really came to the rescue and Aunt Lorre and Jacob took in an "orphaned" Kallahan in east Louisianna. Kallahan and I left on Sunday morning with the 1st load of food . . . got to camp and had the place to ourselves until Monday ! ! ! We went down to the shooting range, to the lake, hiked the camp, and slept with the Cook Shack door locked and the A/C blowing really loud so we couldn't hear all the critters outside ! ! !

1st load in the walk-in fridge . . . that's only one side and the freezer is just as big. The dry-pantry is huge and full . . . insanity I say! Insanity !!!
My Ritz-Carlton for the week . . . . the king-size bed is mine . . . . Head Cook gets all the perks, right? Bunk beds for everyone else.

Down at the shooting range . . . Kallahan is one happy boy . . . just wishes we had the key to the guns !
Down at the lake on Sunday afternoon . . . all the work is FINALLY done and we're enjoying the breeze and the BEEssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss . . . . see Kallahan's attack next:

We had a private dinner of watermelon . . . that's all he wanted and we enjoyed EVERY bite !

Monday morning 4am . . . on the road again to Aunt Lorre's house in the country. What a beautiful home on a beautiful piece of land . . . I so wanted to stay with Kallahan and enjoy the love and spirit there. Kallahan got to know his cousin Jacob and he had a GREAT time ! ! !

We're still not unpacked from camp, but we finally felt feisty enough to have some summer fun. Movies one day . . . Ice Age 3 . . . Kemah the next day . . . swimming and fun with friends.

Funnel cakes at Kemah . . . YuMMY . . Yum ! ! !

The boys and I are headed out to Salt Lake City/Provo/Rexburg and everywhere in between to visit friends and family . . . and, oh yeah, to see Katie and Steve graduate from BYUI . . . someone has to help out with Raleigh, right?!? It'll be August before we return . . . sure to be lots more pictures and many more stories. Life is Good ! ! !

Let the games begin and end and BEGIN again!

It's been a few weeks . . . but I'm at least trying to get photos in here! Our winter days of 2009 were spent at basketballs practices and games with both boys. All in all they had great seasons. And now baseball season begins !!!
Seriously, Braeden waved to friends during the game . . . he really likes the game and he never forgets to have fun while competing . . . other boys cry when the team loses . . . not Braeden. He remembers all the fun stuff from the game and keeps on smiling.
He's at least a head or two taller than the others . . . still! Crazy big feet and big gorgeous smile. Makes a momma proud! We learned that paying for rebounds and shots made a difference . . . this game cost me $40.

Kallahan REALLY enjoys basketball. He made lots of rebounds this year and even some shots !!! Look out next year !!! Sure hope he gets drafted with Ralphie next year . . . they were #1!

We are becoming very familiar with the batting cages in the area . . . slugger can run FAST . . . he just has to hit the ball first, right?

Pictures NOT Required

No photos this week . . . too busy living life to capture it, right ?!?! This week has been filled with basketball practices, basketball games, cub scouts, boy scouts, PINEWOOD DERBY races, school, friends, family, Gymboree, shopping, phone calls, and MORE. My sister tells me she doesn't know how I do it all . . . what she doesn't know is that I don't. I have so much support in this effort we call life. Today (and everyday) I am so thankful for Ken and Braeden and Kallahan and Katie and Stephen and Raleigh and Karyn, Dawn, Kimberly, Becky, Jeannie, Celia, Emma, Karen, Chris, Cindy, Lee, and countless others who appreciate what I do and when I do it and how I do it . . . and always help me out along the way. It's a cliche to some . . . but to me it's a REALITY . . . . Life IS Good ! ! !
